2006-07 WBCIA Feedlot Test Entry Letter.pdf

The WBCIA feedlot test provides cattle producers the opportunity to evaluate the feedlot performance and carcass quality of their cattle.  Producers can enter as few as 5 head into the test, and as many as they have.  Cattle will be weighed monthly, evaluated by ultrasound, marketed on a grid, and actual carcass data will be obtained on each animal.

Dr. Steve Paisley ultrasounds a steer at the 2003-4 feedlot test

This test is to provide producers with information to help them decide how to best market their cattle weather that be selling at weaning, retaining through feeding, marketing on a grid, or some other value-added program.  The information can also be used to make breeding decisions to improve a producer's herd.

The feedlot test for 2007-08 is being held at the Klein Feedlot South of Wheatland.

Cattle should be nominated by October 11, 2006 and delivered at one of two delivery dates:

  • October 18th & 19th between 9 am and 3 pm.
  • November 10 & 11, 9 AM - 3 PM
  • Possibly a 3rd date in December may be added should there be enough interest
