The WBCIA feedlot test provides cattle producers the opportunity to evaluate the feedlot performance and carcass quality of their cattle. Producers can enter as few as 5 head into the test, and as many as they have. Cattle will be weighed monthly, evaluated by ultrasound, marketed on a grid, and actual carcass data will be obtained on each animal.
Dr. Steve Paisley ultrasounds a steer at the 2003-4 feedlot test This test is to provide producers with information to help them decide how to best market their cattle weather that be selling at weaning, retaining through feeding, marketing on a grid, or some other value-added program. The information can also be used to make breeding decisions to improve a producer's herd. The feedlot test for 2007-08 is being held at the Klein Feedlot South of Wheatland.
